Behind the ear (BTE) with earmould

This is the largest of the hearing aids and fits behind your ear with a mould in your ear. This style of hearing aid is reliable and robust and useful for individuals with management issues, and bigger hearing losses. The behind the ear style can also have both program and volume controls on it.

Open fit/Mini BTE with slim tube and dome

This is a smaller, more discreet version of a behind the ear hearing aid with a tube and a dome (or small mould) sitting in your ear canal. It allows for the ear canal to be as open as possible, therefore reduces any blocked up feeling and allows for natural sounds to be heard. This style is very good for high frequency losses.

Receiver in Canal (RIC)

Also known as Receiver-in-the-ear (RITE or RIE). This is a small hearing aid that sits behind your ear much like the open fit style. But this style has a wire connecting it to the receiver of the hearing aid that sits in your ear canal with a dome (or small mould) over it. A very popular choice of hearing aid as they are small and discreet, and able to cover a wide range of hearing losses.

In the Ear (ITE)

This is the largest of the in the ear hearing aids. It is suited to individuals with manual dexterity problems as it can house a larger battery and is larger overall. It is also suitable for larger losses. This style is also able to house a directional microphone, which is advantageous in noisy situations.

In the Ear (ITE)

In the Canal (ITC)

This in the ear style fits in the lower portion of the outer ear canal. It can be fitted to a wide range of hearing loss, and is able to house directional microphones.

In the Canal (ITC)

Completely in the Canal (CIC)

A small, discreet in the ear hearing aid. Due to its small size it houses a very small battery and is not able to have directional microphones.

Invisible in the Canal (IIC)

A tiny in the ear hearing aid that fits more deeply inside the ear canal so that it is hard to see. This style is designed for mild to moderate hearing losses. It require a larger size, relatively straight ear canal to enable it to fit deeply in the ear canal.
